A 29-year-old woman from Upper Austria had a fatal accident while hiking in Salzburg on Tuesday followingnoon. The woman from the Vöcklabruck district was with two male companions (23, 26) on a hike from Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer via the Riemannhaus to the 2,653 meter high Schönfeldspitze. During the descent in the early followingnoon, the three people below the summit were caught in a hailstorm, as the Salzburg police announced on Wednesday.
At an altitude of regarding 2,580 meters, the 29-year-old fell regarding 200 meters down steep rocky terrain south of the summit. Her companions immediately made an emergency call. However, the emergency doctor on the Martin 6 emergency helicopter might only determine that the woman had already died.
