3.1% increase in turnover in February – 2024-04-25 11:28:34

The General Index of Business Cycle in Industry registered an increase of 3.1% in February 2024 compared to February 2023, according to the data of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

The General Index of Business Cycle at Industry of February 2024, compared to the corresponding index of January 2024, showed an increase of 5.4%. The average General Index of the twelve months March 2023 – February 2024, compared to the corresponding index of the twelve months March 2022 – February 2023, showed a decrease of 5.5%, once morest an increase of 29.9% noted when comparing the corresponding previous twelve months.

Comparison of General Industry Turnover Index

The increase in the General Index of Business Cycle in Industry by 3.1% in the month of February 2024, compared to the corresponding index in February 2023, came from:

1. From the changes in the indicators of the individual sectors of the industry:

• Increase by 31.2% of the Mining – Quarry Turnover Index. This increase came mainly from the changes in the indicators of the two-digit branches: coal and lignite mining – crude oil and natural gas extraction – mining support activities, mining of mineral ores.

• 2.8% increase in the Manufacturing Cycle Index. This increase was mainly contributed by the changes in the indices of the two-digit branches: printing and reproduction of pre-recorded media, production of other non-metallic mineral products, manufacture of electrical equipment, distillery.

2. Of the changes in the indices of the individual markets:

• 9.2% increase in the Domestic Market Turnover Index.

• 5.9% decrease in the Foreign Market Turnover Index.

The decrease in the General Index of the Foreign Market Business Cycle by 5.9% in the month of February 2024, compared to the corresponding index of February 2023, came, according to iefimerida:

1. From the changes in the indicators of the individual sectors of the industry:

• 6.5% reduction in the Manufacturing Cycle Index. This decrease was mainly contributed by the changes in the indices of the two-digit branches: production of tobacco products, production of coke and oil refining products, manufacture of clothing, production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations.

• Increase by 32.9% of the Mining – Quarry Turnover Index. This increase came from the changes in the indicators of the two-digit branches: coal and lignite mining – crude oil and natural gas extraction – mining support activities, mining of mineral ores.

2. Of the changes in the indices of the individual markets:

• Reduction by 13.6% of the Foreign Market Turnover Index outside the Eurozone.

• 4.3% increase in the Eurozone External Market Turnover Index.
