3.2 magnitude earthquake near Aschach in Upper Austria

A clearly noticeable earthquake occurred Tuesday evening around nine kilometers northeast of Aschach (Ried im Innkreis district) in Upper Austria at 6:35 p.m. As reported by the Austrian Seismological Service of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), the tremors reached a magnitude of 3.2.

The quake was clearly felt by the population, sometimes also strongly. According to the Seismological Service, with this strength in the epicentral area, small plaster cracks are possible in a few cases on buildings susceptible to damage.

Already on Monday evening, a slight earthquake occurred at 9:00 p.m. around eight kilometers southwest of Ferlach (Klagenfurt-Land district). With a magnitude of 1.8 measured by the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), no damage to buildings is to be expected.

Loud bang in Tyrol

A slight earthquake also occurred in the Tyrolean Pitztal on Tuesday morning at 9.23 a.m. The tremors also reached a magnitude of 1.8 there and were clearly felt in the area of ​​the epicenter – three kilometers south-east of Jerzens (District Imst).
