Many people use a kettle in their kitchen to heat water every day.
This may surprise some people, who think that because only water goes into the kettle, there is no need to clean it.
However, just like any other appliance, it is important to keep your kettle clean.
If the kettle is not cleaned regularly, it can leave a hard layer of calcium carbonate on the bottom, which can affect the performance of your kettle and give your water a slightly metallic taste.
The baking soda method
Fill a kettle 3/4 full with water and add a tablespoon of baking soda.
Boil the water and let it sit for an hour.
Rinse thoroughly before use. Your kettle is clean.
The white vinegar method
Fill half of the kettle with white vinegar and the rest with water.
Boil the water and once it boils, discard all the water, your kettle is clean.
