Thiruvananthapuram: Three SIs have been suspended in connection with the death of an accused in police custody in Thiruvallam. The action is against two SIs and one grade SI. Thiruvallam issued show cause notice to CI. The action was taken in the name of procedural failure.
Suresh, a native of Thiruvallam, and others were taken into custody in the case of assaulting a couple who came to visit a Thiruvallam judge. Suresh, who was suffering from chest pain while in custody, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Locals besieged the site and protested, alleging that custody torture was the cause of death. However, the post-mortem report revealed that the cause of death was a heart attack. According to the report, Suresh did not have any fatal injuries or bruises on his body.
