The Lungau Social Center sees itself as an important partner in the social landscape in Lungau. The variety of its facilities and offerings was shown on the open day.
The Lungau Social Center has been located on the first floor of Q4 on Postplatz for nine years. At that time, twelve counseling, therapy and service centers were started. Today there are 30 offers. The respective facilities share office space, network and coordinate in order to offer people competent and quick help in emergency or problem situations. What is particularly important is the preventive offer.
Monika Weilharter, co-founder of the social center and head of “Forum Familie Lungau”: “We have built up a good prevention chain, this construct should now be continued. The flexible rental options make it easy for the facilities to rent on a daily basis and use their expertise to expand the offering to enrich the social center.” Carmen Steinschnack is responsible for organizing and coordinating the individual offers and rooms in Q4. Everyone’s “next door” offers the advantages of collaboration and thus the bundling of competencies. For clients, the distances are short, barrier-free and the atmosphere is friendly. The discretion of those seeking help is guaranteed as best as possible.
Family and children, child therapy and support, youth, school and apprenticeship, work, education and re-entry, debt and drug advice, violence protection and child protection center, psychotherapy and support in special life situations, physiotherapy and additional offers such as the hospice’s open grief group – Lungau Initiative: A wide range of social problems and prevention is covered. The space available now covers the entire first floor. From the therapy rooms for early intervention and family support at Lebenshilfe, to the offices and in the south wing, where the “Pepp” parental advice center and Akcente Lungau are located. Assisted living units from the “Laube” are also housed here.
“If I’ve never been affected before, I haven’t had any contact with the social center. That’s why we organize such an open day, work together with educators or invite schools to get to know the social center,” says Weilharter. There are also lists of advisors available in every community. If necessary, you can get information immediately and find the appropriate facility, service point or appropriate advice offer.
Exchange and togetherness at Sozial-Jour-fixe
In this way, the social center plays a decisive role in the overall regional offering. “We are part of the social landscape in Lungau. There are of course other social institutions in the district, and the cooperation is very good.” A platform for togetherness is the Sozial-Jour-fixe, at which the institutions meet four times a year at the invitation of the Forum Familie, Praktike Lungau and the relief organization.
In addition to providing plenty of information, the open day also served the purpose of thanking everyone involved. The state of Salzburg and the market town of Tamsweg support the Lungau social center. Likewise the owners of the Q4, represented by Lambert Krist, who takes care of the tailor-made rental agreements, billing and all administrative tasks.
