30-year-old female employee in Tongleju child abuse case pleads guilty to assaulting two children today sentenced to 4 months and 10 weeks in prison

“Dongwang” was the first to exclusively report earlier that a number of employees of “Tongleju”, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children, were suspected of child abuse cases. So far, a total of 34 female employees have been prosecuted and interrogated. Earlier, 4 defendants pleaded guilty, and 2 of them were sentenced to 4 months and 5 months and 8 weeks respectively. One more person was sentenced at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court today (18th). Acting Chief Magistrate Huang Yayin sentenced her. Instant 4 months 10 weeks in jail.

The defendant Zhang Huiyan (30), who was sentenced today, has been working at Tongleju since August last year. She pleaded guilty to two counts of abuse or neglect of children or juveniles in her custody on the 4th of this month and has been remanded in custody. The case alleges that in the early morning of November 29 last year, a 1-year-old boy codenamed “K” stood in a crib and threw the quilt out of the bed. Upon seeing this, Zhang hit K on the head, causing K to fall on the bed. When Zhang picked up the quilt, seeing K standing up again, he slapped K in the face, causing him to fall on the bed again. On the evening of December 5 last year, the 1-year-old boy, codenamed “AH”, was playing alone in the crib. When he held the toy above his head, Zhang snatched the toy and pushed AH down so that his head hit the bed. Side fence, and hit AH in the face 2 times.
