“My understanding of where my dad was as a kid was he wasn’t really ready as a dad,” Rowland began in a pre-taped interview. “I was angry with him. I was disappointed in him. I had all these feelings of abandonment,” Rowland said in an interview regarding her previous relationship with her father. “I think as a kid you just feel like if they’re not there, they don’t want to be here. So I felt that and that feeling sucked.”
But following 30 years, the two have now reunited following the singer gave birth to her son Titan and her mother died three weeks later. “I said, ‘I really need to get to know him. I want to meet him,'” Rowland recalled. “I think I had these feelings like, ‘Oh my god, I don’t have any parents.’ And it was like, no, you do — you’ve got one left.”
