Brasília – Brazilian authorities freed a total of 3,190 people from slavery-like conditions in 2023. This is the highest number in 14 years, as media reported on Thursday evening (local time) according to “Kathpress”. Most cases (302) were discovered in the coffee industry, followed by the sugar cane industry with 258 people released. Compensation payments to those affected by convicted employers reached 2.4 million euros in the previous year.
