Berlakovich: constant expansion of the ORF’s range of programs and improvements in broadcast time and reach are important for supporting the ethnic groups

Vienna (OTS) – On Sunday, April 7th, 2024, the anniversary broadcast of “Dobar dan Hrvati” will be broadcast on ORF 2/Burgenland. The first edition was shown on ORF Burgenland on April 2nd, 1989. Since then, the Croatian Editorial team produces the 30-minute magazine every Sunday for the Burgenland Croats ethnic group in their native language.

The first radio broadcasts in Croatian were broadcast in 1979. The Croatian television program “Dobar dan Hrvati” can always be viewed on the ORF TVthek for 30 days. In September 2022, the multilingual TV show WIR| ČEŠI, HRVATI, MAGYAROK, ROMA, SLOVÁCI, SLOVENCI shown for the first time. At the beginning of 2024, ORF expanded its range of programs in the languages ​​of the six Austrian ethnic groups on both radio and television.

“The transmission and presence of the ethnic group languages ​​and culture are essential for the continued existence of the Austrian ethnic groups. “Dobar dan Hrvati” is a success story that has lasted 35 years. Congratulations to the team at ORF Burgenland! By expanding the broadcasting times, the next step in supporting the ethnic groups has been achieved. “In addition, more people can hear and see the culture and languages ​​of the ethnic groups,” said ÖVP ethnic group spokesman Nikolaus Berlakovich.

“In recent years, in addition to doubling funding for ethnic groups, numerous measures have been taken. Particularly worth mentioning are the promotion of a leading medium for each ethnic group, the promotion of youth and support for digitalization. This year, for the first time, there is a focus on construction and renovation for ethnic group premises,” concluded Berlakovich.
