A 36-year-old housewife in Brazil, Marciele de Pinho Silva, was bitten by a venomous snake while she was drying clothes on a farm. According to the Brazilian media “MidiaNews”, the incident happened on the morning of May 3 in Chapada dos Guimarães, Brazil. At that time, Mahile was drying clothes on a farm near her home. Accidentally stepped on a rattlesnake, and was bitten by a poisonous snake on the inside of his right foot. The 42-year-old husband said that his wife called him, and he rushed to the scene to kill the snake and took her to a nearby clinic for treatment.
“She was in pain and didn’t even want me to touch her,” the husband described. When they arrived at the clinic, his wife’s knee was purple. After taking relevant drugs in the clinic, Mahil was injected with 8 types of rattlesnake venom serum. The pain gradually eased and the color returned to normal. Then he was transferred to the hospital in Cuiabá for a blood coagulation test. Unexpectedly, at 8:00 a.m. on the next (4th) day, Mahil still passed away unfortunately, and the death certificate stated “coagulation disease caused by snake bite”.
Mahil’s family questioned this and asked whether the serum at the local clinic was for the correct snake species. After an investigation, the city council stated that the serum was a match and that the patient had also taken other drugs. The city’s health minister Rosa (Rosa) Blanco also confirmed that all the drugs were fully implemented, Mahil’s death may be a special case, and the authorities will continue to investigate Mahil’s death.
