A 36-year-old jogger helped the two, the police reported. The man was walking with his grandson when he suffered a medical emergency and fell into the freezing water, police reported. The 36-year-old from the Graz-Umwelt district was on the Murradweg around 2 p.m. and noticed the 51-year-old and the baby in the river.
Hypothermic but uninjured
The woman provided first aid and made an emergency call. Red Cross emergency services and a police patrol arrived on the bank and looked after the man and baby. Neither had suffered any visible injuries, but were taken to the LKH Graz or the children’s clinic wet and hypothermic. The man is a Bosnian citizen who lives in Graz. When he developed the medical problem, he was walking with the baby in the stroller.
