A 36-year-old young man died following an alligator attack in the Cubango River, in the municipality of Cuvango, in the province of Huíla, said yesterday the spokesperson for the Civil Protection and Fire Service, sub-inspector-firefighter Teresa Abel.

Teresa Abel said that the incident happened on Monday in the Cassange neighborhood, when around 1 pm, the victim, accompanied by her uncle, was bathing in the river and was surprised by the reptile, which fatally attacked him and dragged him into the depths. .

Speaking to Angop, the SPCB official highlighted that as soon as her institution was called, she sent a team of firefighters to the scene, who continued to search to locate and rescue the body.

He highlighted that on the Cubango River, gender-related cases have been recurring, indicating that in the same period in 2023, a 21-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter, who she was carrying on her back, died in similar circumstances.
