4 people die in armed attack at a bar in northern Mexico

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Four people died during an armed attack that occurred in a bar in the northern city of Chihuahua, state authorities said Saturday.

The attack occurred on Friday night in a bar in the Concordia neighborhood of Chihuahua, capital of the state of the same name, where armed men arrived and began shooting at those who were in the premises.

The state Attorney General’s Office reported in a statement Saturday that four people died in the attack, but did not offer details.

After the murders, security forces activated an operation in Chihuahua and arrested five people who are believed to have participated in the attack, the Public Ministry said.

Chihuahua is one of the six states in Mexico with the highest homicide records along with Michoacán, Guanajuato, the State of Mexico, Baja California, and Jalisco, according to figures from the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection.
