The lead actor revealed the details of the process only many years later.

Actor and director Dmitry Iosifov is known to most viewers for the role of Pinocchio from the film of the same name. The actor spoke to reporters at the Crystal Istochnik festival, where he revealed some interesting details about filming a children’s movie.

It turned out that the process was fun, and sometimes extreme. Iosifov said that Rolan Bykov, who played the cat Basilio, got into a violent fight with the bus driver. There is a scene in the film where the cat Basilio is sliding down the mountain, jumping on a bump and his glasses fly up on his forehead. This episode could not be filmed realistically, Bykov was not very deftly moving down the mountain and did not cause laughter with his actions. Then the actor came up with the idea of unscrewing the chair from the bus on which the film crew arrived and using it as a prop.

Shooting Pinocchio was fun and sometimes extreme

The scene was a success almost from the first take, and then, according to Iosifov, Bykov began to slide down the hill again and again, but for the sake of fun. The fun continued until the bus driver returned from lunch and saw that the chair had turned into dust. No one expected such a reaction, the driver attacked Rolan Bykov with his fists. He shouted that this was state property and now they would ask him.

“The driver attacked Bykov, shouting that he was a financially responsible person and that he would kill him now for the damaged bus,” Iosifov said.

The fight ended in bloodshed if the film crew had not taken the angry men to different sides.

The leading actor also spoke about the secret of Pinocchio’s nose. It turned out that he, being a 9-year-old boy, sat at the make-up artist for 5-6 hours. Gluing the nose was especially difficult. It was an expensive thing made in Italy, but terribly uncomfortable. If you glued the nose, they could still carefully, but “tearing off” it was not always successful. In total, during the filming, more than 40 Pinocchio noses were damaged, which, according to the actor, cost fabulous money.
