Due to the demonstrations affecting several cities in Kazakhstan, the security forces announced that they had arrested 4,266 people, therefore foreign nationals.
In a statement shared on Saturday, Kazakhstan’s interior ministry released updated figures regarding arrests in connection with ongoing law enforcement operations in the country.
Thus, since the start of the demonstrations against the increase in LPG, 4,266 people have been arrested, including citizens of neighboring countries.
More than 100 people were arrested in a village in Almaty province, the statement said, adding that weapons and ammunition were seized from a building in Almaty, as well as stolen goods such as bicycles, televisions and cell phones, and an arms depot discovered in Jambil province.

Protests began in western Kazakhstan on January 2 due to the rise in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and the deteriorating socioeconomic situation in the country.
Clashes erupted between security forces and protesters in several towns. The security forces used sound bombs against the demonstrators. Police vehicles were set on fire and protesters attempted to occupy government buildings, especially in Almaty in the south of the country.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev blamed the government for the situation and accepted his resignation.
As the situation deteriorated, a state of emergency was declared across the country.
On January 7, Tokayev announced that constitutional order had been restored to all parts of the country, but that law enforcement operations were continuing particularly in the city of Almaty.
