Coordinating MINISTER for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto said Indonesia was ranked fourth as the country with the most cases of child pornography. This data was revealed by the National Center for Missing Exploited Children (NCMEC)
“The content findings of Indonesian child pornography cases over the past 4 years were 5,566,015 cases. And Indonesia is ranked fourth internationally and second in the ASEAN region,” said Hadi in a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Thursday, April 18 2024.
However, Hadi said that this number did not reflect the conditions in the field. The reason is, there are still many victims who are reluctant to reveal their cases.
“There are also victims who don’t want to report the true incident. They cover it up because they are afraid of shame,” he explained.
He also said that this child pornography case claimed various victims. From disabilities, early childhood education (Paud) students to high school students (SMA).
