Doha: Qatar’s consumer price index rose 5.93 percent to 108.20 points in December 2022. This is compared to December 2021. Compared to the November 2022 consumer price index, there is an increase of 1.24 percent. The annual consumer price index increase is due to price increases in seven groups.

Recreation and culture- 25.36 percent, housing-water-electricity-other fuels- 11.90 percent, restaurants-hotels-10.08 percent, food and beverages-1.62 percent, education 1.09 percent, furniture-household appliances 0.95 percent and transportation 0.27 percent. Meanwhile, communication -3.37 percent, health -2.31 percent, clothing-footwear -0.38 percent and miscellaneous goods and services -0.08 percent recorded low.

The major components of the Consumer Price Index for December 2022 compared to November 2022 are six sectors: Entertainment and Culture -7.33 percent, Restaurants and Hotels -1.84 percent, Transportation -1.22 percent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services -0.51 percent, Food and Beverages -0.43 percent, and Furniture-Household Appliances -0.10 percent. There was an increase in groups. However, there was a decline of 2.03 per cent in communication and 0.42 per cent in clothing and footwear.

In four groups including housing-water-electricity, health and education, the price level has not changed in the last months. The December 2022 housing-water-electricity-other fuel groups recorded an increase of 1.53 percent at 110.88 points as compared to November 2022 index.
