5 Sudanese players drowned

Five players from the Sudanese Navigation Team from the third football league died, following a boat carrying them from one city to another sank in the northern Nile River State, according to the official Sudanese News Agency.

The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) announced on its official website, “Five Bashandi football team were martyred when a boat sank.”

These players were traveling in a boat from the city of Shendi in the state of the River Nile to play a match with their team Al-Nahla once morest Al-Jarif in the third division competitions, in the city of Al-Matama.

According to SUNA, civil defense teams went to the site of the accident, and “the search is still underway to retrieve the bodies.”
