Times are changing: A few years ago, the two New York rappers 50 Cent and French Montana still beef. The waves have now calmed down. Now French Montana was a guest on Battle Rap influencer Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” podcast and describes 50 Cent as a genius – precisely because of his beef strategy.
French Montana: “Fifty created a marketing strategy”
According to French Montana, Fifty only shot other artists for his own pleasure. French Montana describes it as a stroke of genius that he then used these quarrels as a promo for his albums and mixtapes. Other artists would have done it before 50 Cent, but according to French, Fifty became its “mastermind and warlord”. There is a “blueprint” that current artists can use as a guide.
However, French clarifies that unlike other, less talented artists who emulate Fifty, he has had enough hits to align the Beefs’ attention with his musical career.
