A 55-year-old mountaineer from Salzburg died on Hohen Göll on Sunday due to an acute medical emergency.

On Sunday morning, an acutely ill 55-year-old mountaineer from the Salzburg region died in the Schuster route on the north-west side of the Hoher Göll. According to the Bavarian Red Cross, he suddenly collapsed due to an acute internal emergency. The man died despite attempts to revive him immediately by first responders and mountain rescuers.

When the emergency call came in shortly following 8 a.m., the crew of the Salzburg emergency doctor helicopter “Christophorus 6” tried to fly directly to the site. However, this was not possible due to the dense fog, which is why the mountain rescuers and the doctor quickly climbed up on foot. Continued attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
