Samsung is about to launch the Galaxy S24 FEexpected for late September or October, and the big surprise is not only its specs, but also the significant increase in price compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 FE. According to reliable sources, the Galaxy S24 FE will be released in Europe by € 799this is a price increase of € 100. In Brazil, this value could reach almost R$5,000.

Specs maintained, price higher

The price increase is even harder to justify because the Galaxy S24 FE doesn’t bring any major jumps in terms of specifications. It will have a Exynos 2400 with a slight reduction in speed, the same charging as the previous model and a screen 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLEDwith refresh rate of 120 Hz and maximum brightness of 1.900 nitsprotected by Gorilla Glass Diet+.

In terms of cameras and battery, the Galaxy S24 FE will come with a similar configuration to the S23 FE, including:

  • Main camera of 50 MP
  • Ultrawide camera 12 MP
  • Telephoto of 8 MP with 3x optical zoom
  • Front camera 10 MP
  • Battery of 4.565 mAh

If the rumors that are being circulated are confirmed, the Galaxy S24 FE could cost R$4,980 in direct conversion and without counting national taxes. The Galaxy S23 FE arrived in Brazil in October 2023 with a suggested price of R$4,000. It didn’t take long for its price to become more interesting, reaching R$3,199 in a few weeks after its launch. Today, it can be found in offers in the range of R$2,250.

Internal competition

The most curious thing is not even the price of the Galaxy S23 FE, but rather that of the Galaxy S24. In case you didn’t know, the FE (Fan Edition) models are intended to please Samsung fans, offering a device with the same design and features as the main launch of the year, but with some cuts in the technical specifications that make it cheaper.

However, the Galaxy S24, launched earlier this year, is Samsung’s main launch in 2024. When it arrived in Brazil, its price was R$6,000. This raises an important question: Why would someone choose the higher-priced Galaxy S24 FE with similar or lower specs when other options in the Galaxy S24 lineup are more attractive?

This question could be a challenge for Samsung when trying to justify the price increase to consumers.
