Dr. Obada Sarhan, a member of the Board of Trustees of Hospital 57357, said that the hospital is suffering from a difficult financial situation during the past few days, as a result of the high price of the dollar and used medical supplies.
Sarhan added, in statements to Masrawy, on Wednesday: “The economic situation of the hospital is very difficult. We had 3 billion pounds during the last period, and currently we only have 600 million pounds after we decided to “unlock” the last deposit in the bank.”
A member of the Board of Trustees expressed his fear of closing the hospital as a result of the current situation, saying: We may have to close after 8 months from now as a result of the crisis situation.
Sarhan continued: There is no solution except with donations, and we appeal to everyone for our assistance during the coming period.

Regarding the details of the crisis, the sources said, “Donations decreased during the last 6 months by a rate ranging between 80 to 88 percent, compared to the same period in previous years, which prompted the hospital to take a recent decision to release the last deposit owned by the hospital in order to spend on treating 18,000 injured children.” Cancer, which is only enough for one year, if donations continue at the current pace.
