HOUSTON: The kickoff of the 5th Inter-Parish Sports (IPSF) Fest jointly organized by the parishes of the Texas-Oklahoma Region of the Chicago Syro-Malabar Diocese on August 1, 2, 3 and 4, 2024 was held at St. Joseph Forona Church Auditorium, Houston.
IPSF 2024 Chairman and Parish Vicar: Fr. Jonikutty George Pulissery Assistant Vicar Fr. George Parayil, Regional Coordinators Sijo Jose, Tom Kuntara, Trustees Shijo Thekel, Prince Jacob, Varghese Kalluvettamkuzhi, Philip Paipat, Advisory Committee Members Babu Mathew, Vinod Joseph, Finance Committee Chairperson Bose Kurian, Chief Sponsor GB Parakal (Austin), other sponsors etc. were present at the function. Fr. Under the leadership of Jonikutty Pulissery, everyone lit the lamp and performed the kickoff.
IPSF Host Parish, Vicar Fr. Johnikutty welcomed and wished him well. The theme of the fest is “A Sound Mind In a Sound Body”. Fr. Jonikutty Pulissery said that inter-parish sports fest is an opportunity for the mutual friendship of the parishes in the Southern region and especially for the youth.
Diocesan Bishop Mar. Joy Allapat offered prayers and best wishes for sports fest. Eight parishes in the region including Coppell St. Alphonsa, Garland St. Thomas Forona, Houston St. Joseph Syro Malabar Forona, Pearland St. Mary’s, Oklahoma Holy Family, Austin St. Alphonsa, McAllen Divine Mercy Syro Malabar Church, San Antonio St. Thomas Syro Malabar Catholic Church participated in the sports event. and
Children and adults will participate in 15 sports like cricket, soccer, basketball, volleyball, throwball, badminton, table tennis, cards, chess, caroms, panchagusti, tug-of-war, tennis and American flag football. The Fort Bend Epic Center will host the games.
