The Indonesian National Disaster Management Council reported that a 6.4-magnitude earthquake occurred off the Indonesian island of Java on Friday evening, injuring at least 10 people, while one person died of an apparent heart attack during the quake.

The council’s spokesman, Abdul Mahari, said today, Saturday, that the earthquake caused minor damage to hundreds of homes, some offices, and health and educational facilities in the Yogyakarta region and Central Java province.

The Indonesian Geophysics Agency said that the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 25 kilometers, was felt by residents in several cities in the Yogyakarta region, as well as east and central Java, the most populated island in Indonesia. No tsunami warning was issued.
