On April 9, 2024, a 6.6-magnitude earthquake hit the eastern tip of the Indonesian archipelago.
According to its Meteorological and Geophysical Service Indonesia (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was located 106 kilometers southeast of the city of Manokwari, in the province of West Papua.
With information from protothema, the epicenter of the earthquake is located 141 kilometers southeast of the city of Tombelo and the focal depth is estimated at 53 kilometers.
