The karate team added a new achievement to the sport of the Emirates, in the Arab Championship, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, by winning 6 medals, 3 gold, and the same bronze, over the two days of competitions, with the participation of 8 teams. Marawan Al-Mazmi won the gold in the men’s individual kata, and Hawra Al-Ajami won the gold in the 50kg individual kumite women’s individual, and Fatima Salem won the gold in the 68kg kumite individual women’s team, while the bronze medals went to Ahmed Salem in the men’s individual kumite 67kg weight, and Muhammad Jassim in the men’s 75kg individual kumite , Marwan Al-Mazmi, Youssef Faraidooni and Abdel-Ghani Muhammed Kata collective men.
Dr. Abdel Awal Mohamed Abdel Rahim, Assistant Minister of Sports and Egyptian Youth, crowned the winners, in the presence of Major General “M” Nasser Al-Razouki, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations, First Vice President of the International Federation, Dr. Ibrahim Qanas, President of the Arab Federation, Mohamed Al-Dahrawi, President of the Egyptian Federation and Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Badi, head of the mission. Dr. Abdullah Al-Badi praised the efforts made by the Federation of the Game, and the keenness of the President of the Federation to support the efforts of all the players of our team participating in the tournament, and his continuous motivation for them to represent the country in the great Arab forum, which had a significant impact on the achievement of the Arab championship.
