On Saturday, a skiing accident occurred in the “Portes du Soleil” ski area near Champéry VS, in which a 60-year-old man from Vaud died. The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in the Portes du Soleil ski area.
At that time, the skier was on the “Piste de la Ripaille” on the descent. For currently unexplained reasons, he fell and came to a standstill at the edge of the piste.
Despite rapid medical first aid by the rescue workers, the skier died at the scene of the accident. The public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation. (gf)
