60-year-old woman dies of arson case in Lok Fu Village, police changed to manslaughter 11-year-old boy released on bail pending investigation

Police today (22) reclassified an arson case in Wong Tai Sin on August 18 as a manslaughter case. The police received a report at about 2:30 p.m. that a fire broke out in a unit in Lok Tung Building, Lok Fu Estate. Officers rushed to the scene. After the firefighters put out the fire, they found a 66-year-old woman suspected of inhaling smoke and lying down in the incident unit. She was unconscious and was sent to Guanghua Hospital for treatment.

After investigation, the police arrested an 11-year-old boy in Wong Tai Sin on the same day on suspicion of arson. The woman was confirmed dead at 9:29 p.m. on August 19. Police today reclassified the case as manslaughter. The boy has now been released on bail and must report to police in mid-September. The Wong Tai Sin District Crime Squad is actively investigating the case.
