68-year-old Austrian killed by shark in Egypt

Like the english one Daily Mail reported the 68-year-old retiree was attacked by the animal while bathing on the seafront at a popular resort in Sahl Hasheesh. Despite serious injuries, she was able to save herself on the beach, but died in the ambulance, probably from cardiac arrest.

A three-day bathing ban was imposed by the authorities in the area. Diving and fishing have also been banned.

According to media reports, the woman was married to an Egyptian and lived there. Shark attacks are rather rare in Egypt. In 2020, five people were seriously injured in a shark attack near Sharm el-Sheikh.
