7 injuries during attacks by settlers and the Israeli army in Hawara

Palestine – 7 Palestinians were injured, on Monday evening, in attacks carried out by settlers and the Israeli army, in the town of Hawara, in the city of Nablus, in the northern West Bank.

Anadolu correspondent reported, quoting eyewitnesses, that a number of settlers, with the protection of the Israeli army, stormed the town of Hawara, coinciding with breakfast time, and carried out a number of attacks against the Palestinians and their property.

The Director of Ambulance and Emergency at the Palestine Red Crescent Society in Nablus Governorate, Ahmed Jibril, said that the outcome of the attacks in Huwwara was 7 injuries, two of whom were transferred for treatment at Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, while the rest were treated at Ibn Sina Health Center in Huwwara.

Jibril explained to Anadolu Agency that the injuries caused by the settlers’ attacks are a stone hit to the head, a beating, and a broken hand.

As for the army’s attacks, 4 people suffered suffocation due to tear gas inhalation, according to Jibril.

And he indicated that the settlers smashed the windows of a Red Crescent ambulance while it was treating one of the injured, and the army also prevented the transfer of an injured person to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, for two hours.

In turn, Rana Abu Haniyeh, the public relations official in the Hawara municipality, told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli army forced shop owners to close their shops before breakfast time, noting that this time is the peak of shopping for the townspeople.

Abu Haniyeh added that the settlers fired live bullets at Palestinian homes, smashed the windows of a number of vehicles, and burned a large truck.

In the context, the Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned, in a statement, the settlers’ attack on the car of Tulkarem Governmental Hospital and breaking it, near the town of Beita, adjacent to Hawara, as it was transporting laboratory samples and medicines in an urgent manner, which led to obstructing its movement, delaying the arrival of samples and medicines, and terrifying the crews inside.

In a related context, the official Palestinian agency, Wafa, said that settlers, under the protection of the Israeli army, attacked Palestinian homes in the village of Asira al-Qibliya, south of Nablus.

On February 26, the town of Hawara witnessed unprecedented attacks by Israeli settlers, which resulted in the death of a Palestinian, the injury of dozens of others, and the burning and destruction of dozens of homes and cars, after two settlers were killed in a shooting near the town.

Tensions have escalated sharply across the occupied West Bank for months, amid repeated Israeli military raids on Palestinian towns.

According to Palestinian data, about 90 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the beginning of this year, while 15 Israelis were killed in separate attacks during the same period.
