7:1 in the top game: Kuchl is one size too big

The Tennengauer clearly prevailed in Straßwalchen and took the lead in the standings.

Rarely has a (supposed) top game in the Salzburg league been more one-sided. In Straßwalchen, the location of the state cup final triumph last year, Kuchl won the duel between two previously flawless teams 7:1. The hosts served up one goal after the other for the title favorites and new league leaders, especially in the early stages. The Tennengauer punished the sometimes hair-raising blunders in Straßwalchen’s back team ice cold.

Kuchl strikes ice cold

“We’re completely satisfied. I’m even happier with the win because we started with eight U21 players,” said Kuchl’s coach Thomas Hofer, who had to hand over veterans like Michael Perlak (injured) and Marco Hödl (unable to work). “The young team did really well and were also physically superior. But we mustn’t overestimate the result. First place is just a snapshot. There are still many interesting games to come.”

Puch uses the majority in Henndorf

Puch won 3:1 in Henndorf – the second win within a few days. The key scenes: Shortly after the controversial exclusion of Henndorf captain Valerian Höfler, Puch new signing Sebastian Hölzl scored to make it 2-1. “Unfortunately, the referee decided the game. No team should have won this summer kick-off,” says Henndorf’s section manager Sebastian Lindlbauer. Puch coach Andreas Fötschl sees it differently. “A deserved victory, which failed too little in the majority,” he says.

Bürmoos scores in Hallein

Hallein and Bürmoos, who had recently celebrated victories, parted ways with a 1:1 after two different halves. The Bürmooser missed the 2:0 after Patrick Probst’s counterattack. After the break, Hallein increased. Joker Eyup Erdogan equalized. Bürmoos goalie Matthew O’Connor held the point with several saves. “After a very good first half, we fell further and further behind and came under too much pressure. A fair draw,” emphasizes Bürmoos coach Daniel Buhacek, whose team received praise from the opponent. “Very structured, a top-five team against which we deserve a point,” says Hallein’s coach Christoph Lessacher. “We were only more toxic after the break.”
