72-year-old cyclist injured after collision with car

A 72-year-old man who was riding a bicycle suffered serious injuries following colliding with a car on Sunday followingnoon in Kirkland, on the west island of Montreal.

The collision occurred around 12:40 p.m. on chemin de l’Anse à l’Orme, near rue Timberlea-Trail.

According to initial information, the bicycle and the car were traveling in the same direction when the cyclist “would have made a false maneuver bringing him outside the lanes of the cycle path”, explained agent Véronique Comtois, spokesperson for the City of Montreal Police Department.

The 72-year-old man then collided with the car. He was taken to hospital to treat serious lower body injuries. However, his life would not be in danger.

The driver, a 58-year-old woman, was not injured.

An investigation has been opened to understand the causes and circumstances of the accident.
