(ts) Surprise coup and excellent home premiere at the start of the season: In front of 2,425 enthusiastic fans, the Uni Baskets Münster surprisingly defeated the second division champions PS Karlsruhe Lions 84:73 (45:30) on Saturday evening. Götz Rohdewald’s team dominated with speed, defensive pressure and a very team-oriented style of play, gradually building up a 15-point lead by half-time. The Münster team calmly brought the start-to-finish victory over the finish line in the second 20 minutes, with a consistent lead of around 10 points.

First away game against a BBL relegated team

After the successful start to the season against the second division champions, the Uni Baskets will travel to a team relegated from the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga on the second match day. The first away game of the new season could hardly be more difficult. Opponents Tigers Tübingen not only started with a 77:69 victory in the season opening game against promotion favorites Gladiators Trier, but also shone with a brilliant performance. Kick-off for the game in the university town on the Neckar is on Saturday, September 28th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Paul Horn Arena.
