73rd Berlinale: 5 Silver Bears for 5 ARTE films

Strasbourg (ots) At a celebratory gala on Saturday evening in Berlin, a total of five films supported by ARTE were awarded a Silver Bear. In addition, five other co-productions received numerous awards.

In the Section Encounters became Tatiana Huezo for the best directing for the movie THE ECO / The Echo (ZDF/ARTE, The Match Factory).

THE ECHO was also with the “Berlinale Documentary Award” and the “TEDDY AWARD” for the Best Documentary/Essai Film rewarded.

ORLANDO, MA BIOGRAPHIE von Paul B. Preciado (ARTE France, Les Films du Poisson, 24images) received ex aeguo the “Special Jury Award” and a special mention of the “Berlinale Documentary Award” as well as the “Readers’ jury of the Tagesspiegel Prize”.

Die Jury Generation 14+ forgave one honorable mention and the movie AND THE KING SAID, WHAT A FANTASTIC MACHINE von Maximilian Van Aertryck and Axel Danielson (ARTE GEIE, SVT, Platform Production, Film i Väst, Bullit Film). The film also received the “AG Kino Gilde – Cinema Vision 14plus Prize”.

Die Ecumenical Jury forgave one special praise an MIDWIVES von Lea Fehner (ARTE France, Geko Films).

THE TEACHER’S ROOM von Ilker Catak (ZDF/ARTE, if Productions) received the “CICAE ART CINEMA AWARD” and the “LABEL EUROPA CINEMAS”.
