The number of new crown infection cases in Hong Kong has dropped again. The Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced that today (14th) there were 7,749 new confirmed cases, including 7,563 local cases, and 786 imported cases were recorded. In addition, 54 more patients died, and the total number of deaths in the fifth wave of the epidemic reached 12,534.
In terms of cases in residential care homes, 12 more residential care homes for the elderly and 7 new residential care homes for the disabled recorded new cases, with a total of 25 residents and 1 staff infected. In the past 5 days, a total of 199 residents and 54 staff members of Hong Kong’s residential institutions have been diagnosed. Today is a school holiday and no school has reported any cases.
In terms of mutant virus strains, a total of 8 cases of BA2.75.2, 7 cases of BA.4.6, 13 cases of BF.7, 38 cases of BQ1.1, 227 cases of XBB, 1 case of XBB.1.5 and 6 cases of XBD were found in the imported cases in Hong Kong; In terms of local cases, 1 case of BA2.75.2, 36 cases of BF.7, 210 cases of BQ1.1, 182 cases of XBB, 2 cases of XBB.1.5 and 18 cases of XBD were found.
