On May 10 and 11, Quimper will host the finals of the French university football championship at 8 women N1 and N2. The competition will bring together more than 200 players.
224 players, 16 teams, 30 volunteers, 12 referees. The Creac’h Gwen stadium is getting ready. For good reason, the finals of the French university football championship at 8 women N1 and N2 will be played in the city of Quimper on May 10 and 11.
First football CFU organized in Brittany
Led by the Ligue de Bretagne du sport universitaire de Rennes, in close collaboration with the Finistère Football District, the Quimper-Kerfeunteun club, the University of Western Brittany and students from Brest Open Campus, the event will bring together more of 200 girls. On this occasion, the City of Quimper is providing the Creac’h Gwen stadium as well as material, financial and logistical resources. “This competition will obviously contribute to the influence of the city, to show its dynamism and in particular on the question of the development of female practice”, comments the City of Quimper.
“Applying for the organization of this CFU was obvious. Indeed, this is the first time that a football CFU will be organized in Brittany, a true land of football, which will also make it possible to put women’s practice in the spotlight where no less than 10,000 women practice this activity in our region”underlines Frédéric Farou, the regional director of the League of Brittany of university sport.
Over two days, 8 N1 teams and 8 N2 teams will challenge each other. Matches will be played on four synthetic half-pitch pitches at the complex. There will be four groups of four teams which will take place on May 10. The next day, the competition will end with the finals.
