888 Holdings Retires from Delaware, WSOP.com Loses Market Share: Rush Street Interactive Takes Over

888 Holdings retires from the US state of Delaware. With that loses WSOP.com a small market share. This is handled by Rush Street Interactive, who own Run It Once Poker.

With a population of just over a million, Delaware is one of the least populated states in the United States. At the same time, The Diamond State is one of only five states that have regulated online poker.

On top of that, Delaware, along with Michigan, New Jersey, and Nevada, has that Multi-State iGaming Agreement (MSIGA) met. This allows for a combined player pool. A total of around 23.5 million people live in the four states. Only Pennsylvania is currently completely on its own with its almost 13 million inhabitants.

WSOP.com is online in all five states, although Michigan is not yet integrated. Strictly speaking, because it has now become known that 888 Holdings has withdrawn an extension of the license in Delaware.

The Delaware State Lottery won the bid Rush Street Interactive (RSI) given. The license will initially run for five years and will then be extended by one year at a time. The press release however, is far more than just a side note.

Two things are interesting here. For one thing, RSI bought the software after Run it Once Poker ended. The company from New York now has a modern poker client.

However, players from Delaware will have to be patient. A launch is not expected for the time being. It can be assumed that RSI will first acquire a license in one of the other states. Especially since RSI also has a license and software for casino games in Delaware.

Even more intriguing is why 888 Holdings pulled out of Delaware and what WSOP.com will do. 888 and WSOP have a contract that runs until 2026 and Delaware’s elimination is manageable.

However, earlier this year there were rumors that GGPoker would take over WSOP.com. It is also conceivable that WSOP.com will run on the RIO software in the future.
