9,267 industrial units locked down due to Covid | COVID-19

New Delhi ∙ Since 2020 when the spread of Covid started, 9,267 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have been closed in the country and 63,248 people have lost their jobs as a result, the Center has stated.

In Kerala alone, 202 small and medium industries were closed following July 2020, according to the figures given by the Center in the Parliament. 872 people lost their jobs.

In the 4 years following 2019, 9,667 MSME units were closed across the country, while only 400 were closed in the previous 4 years (2016–2019).
