A national emergency was declared in Kazakhstan on Wednesday. The decision comes as street protests against the rise in fuel prices have turned violent. Government offices and government institutions were reportedly attacked. The Russian news agency quoted Kazakh national television as saying that large rallies were banned in Almaty, the financial capital of Kazakhstan, and in the capital, Noor Sultan.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said that such violence against fuel prices cannot be ruled out, but called for action to be taken against such dangerous attacks. A two-week state of emergency has been declared in Almaty and the western Mangisto province. More than 100 policemen have been injured in recent days of violence. Archyde.com reports today that Kazakh President Kazim-Jomar Tokayev has accepted the resignation of his government. Finally, the Kazakh government became the first government to resign this year due to rising oil prices in the country.

The uprising in Kazakhstan began on January 1. On January 1, the people of Kazakhstan, who were waiting for the New Year’s gift, received a double increase in fuel prices. The reason for the increase in prices is that the government has removed the price control. With this, taxi drivers in western Kazakhstan stopped their vehicles on the road and got off. Days passed and people took to the streets in strong protest. As people took to the streets, police and army came to the rescue.

The trouble started in Zhanaozen, in the western part of Kazakhstan. Sanosen is the city that emerged from the energy boom in Kazakhstan. It mainly employs fuel related workers. Sanosen is a city where 160,000 new jobs have been created in recent years.

The sharp rise in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used in vehicles has put people in a lot of trouble. Within days, protests erupted across the country over the oil – fired city of Sanos. As protests intensified, the government took steps to reduce the price of the propane-butane mixture in Sanosen.

But reports from People say that’s just what’s happening. They, including Sanosen, are taking to the streets in protest. As the protests are strong, the police and protesters were hit in many cities. About 100 policemen were injured. However, no figures are available on how many protesters were injured.

Sanosen is the notorious city where police shot dead 16 protesters on December 16, 2011, after months of strikes and protests by Kazakh oil workers. The massacre is still considered one of the worst in Kazakhstan’s 30 – year history.

After the events of that day, the Kazakh authorities took special care in dealing with the workers in western Kazakhstan. If there is a problem with Sanosen, the government is well aware that it will be taken up across the country very soon. In 2021, the price of a liter of LPG gas in Sanosen will be 50 tenge. But by the end of the year, it had jumped to about 79-80 tenge. On January 1, 2022, the price of a liter of petrol jumped to 120 tenge.

People took to the streets as the price of LPG gas more than doubled in a year. On the evening of January 2, thousands of people took to the streets. The protesters demanded a reduction in prices. Residents of Kuryk and Zhetybay also protested in support of Sanosen’s protesters in nearby cities such as Mangystau, Akshukyr, Shetpe, Kyzyl Tobe, and Fort Shev. (Tyshchybek) Hundreds of people from the city shared the video on social media in support of the protesters. With this, the whole country protested strongly.

Protests erupted in the country’s capital, Nur-Sultan, as protesters took to the streets. Leaders of various parties, including unregistered Democratic Party of Kazakhstan leader Zanbolat Mamai and El Teregi (National Reliance) leader Noorzan Altaye, have called on people to take to the streets and protest in the capital, Noor-Sultan. Police arrested 20 participated in this demonstration. Meanwhile, allegations that the government had failed to control the protests intensified. With this, the government announced its resignation and the president accepted the resignation of the government.
