Dubai: Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved a plan to turn the walls and streets of the emirate into an open art gallery. The walls of the old streets of Dubai are adorned with pictures.
Sheikh Hamdan said the aim was to make it a major cultural center that showcases the country’s architecture and heritage. It is also an opportunity for young people to develop their creative skills and for cultural start-ups to showcase their excellence.
Currently there are museums, coffee shops and textile souks in parts of Dubai Creek and in Bur Dubai and Al Fahidi. Attempts are being made to turn old buildings, walls and streets into canvases for artists.
