Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health and Preventive Affairs, said that the current wave of the Corona virus that appeared with the Omicron mutant, is characterized by a high speed of spread, but it is less on the level of severity of symptoms.
In press statements, “Tag El-Din” explained that there are a number of prominent symptoms of corona infection in the current wave, which are: colds, sneezing, sore throat, mild coughing, body pain, and a slight rise in temperature.
He stressed that the level of infections is minor, and the symptoms are also simple, and they are all in the upper respiratory tract.
He pointed out that the symptoms of corona in the current wave differed from the previous waves, especially that there are symptoms of corona that are now rare, such as loss of the senses of smell and taste, and respiratory symptoms, as well as a decrease in the incidence of pneumonia.
In the same regard, Dr. Ashraf El-Adawy, a consultant in chest diseases and an expert at the World Health Organization, said that the change in the voice may be a symptom of infection with the Corona virus and its mutant Omicron.
He pointed out, in statements to Masrawy, that the symptoms also include: diarrhea, cracking in the body, feeling tired, coughing, and approaching, but not all patients suffer from these symptoms.
Al-Adawi stressed that there are simple cases that may not have all of these symptoms, stressing the need to protect the elderly and those with chronic diseases and to go to a medical examination as soon as symptoms appear to quickly contain the infection quickly.
In turn, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said that there are similarities between the symptoms of the Omicron mutant and those with influenza.
He pointed out that Omicron affects the upper respiratory system more and affects the throat with pain and burning, with a runny nose, or the entrance of air from the nose to the upper part of the trachea, unlike the Delta mutant, which affects more on the lower respiratory system and the lung, so Delta injury is more dangerous than Omicron .
