Bizarre: The homeowner had not planted any bamboo himself. The roots came from the neighboring property and have spread under the floor of his house.
The damage incurred: more than €120,000.
The neighbor had apparently forgotten to limit his bamboo with a rhizome barrier. This allowed the aggressive roots of the plant to spread unhindered.
