Evidence of virus circulation in rats has yet to be established. The researchers explain that the animals were certainly infected following drinking water or eating feces. But for scientists, there is no doubt: this variant should indeed affect the entire population. The study concludes by explaining that: “the observation is consistent with the possibility that these lines are derived from an animal host such as a rodent”.
