Unlike last year, the competitors in sight take the lion’s share on the occasion of the Prix de Saint-Maxime, the penultimate flat of the winter meeting on the Côte d’Azur racecourse of Cagnes-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes).
Third in the fifth of February 8 disputed on this same course of 1,600 m of the fiber sand track, when he was already forced to start from stall n ° 16, Dantes (n°2), the favourite, found a just reward for his efforts by winning for the first time at this level. Ridden by Cristian Demuro who quickly placed him at the forefront, this 7-year-old gelding accompanied the leader, Marrakech Moon (n°14) before unclipping it with great ease halfway through the finish line.
Away from the leading duo, Agapi Mia (n°11) finished in a pleasant action and took an easy third place and clearly ahead Total Knockout (n°9), constantly noticed in the leading group. Object of a catch shortly before departure, Oxalis (n°3) completes the arrival of the quinté and precedes Quartilla (n°5), the end of which has not gone unnoticed, and Shyamala (n°10).
