France – 31 poisoned, a woman airlifted to Geneva in absolute emergency

A faulty wood heater in the Argentière mountain refuge, on the Mont-Blanc massif, in the town of Chamonix, wreaked havoc on Thursday evening. 31 people with carbon monoxide poisoning were airlifted to undergo blood tests. A woman in absolute emergency was transported to the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), where there is a hyperbaric chamber. Six other people were rushed to the Sallanches hospital center.

The firefighters intervened shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the refuge, precise “The Dauphine”. Another 24 people felt they did not need rescue and made their way to a hospital on their own. The intervention lasted some 5 hours and mobilized 28 firefighters.
