Johnson meets Kishida to “denounce North Korean missiles”… To strengthen defense cooperation

(LONDON = Yonhap News) Correspondent Choi Yun-jeong = British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the G7 summit on the 24th (local time) and said, “I condemned the recent launch of a North Korean missile.” The British Prime Minister’s Office said.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the leaders of the UK and Japan have reached an agreement to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of defense.

They also welcomed progress in the UK’s discussions on joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The two leaders discussed the urgent need for easing tensions with Ukraine and an unrestricted humanitarian approach, and Prime Minister Johnson thanked Ukraine and Europe for their strong support.

They agreed on the importance of reducing Russia’s dependence on hydrocarbons and improving global energy security, and Prime Minister Johnson welcomed Japan’s support in that regard.
