GeForce RTX, Radeon RX: graphics card prices could return to normal very soon

News hardware GeForce RTX, Radeon RX: graphics card prices could return to normal very soon

The shortage and the pandemic have caused the prices of the latest graphics cards to skyrocket. But the situation should return to normal as early as May.

Seeing the latest graphics card announcements always makes your mouth water. Nvidia’s Ampere series was the latest evidence. But this one, like many other AMD references, experienced an unforeseen situation: the shortage of components, linked to the pandemic. Because of this and new practices like cryptocurrency mining, the supply was reduced to its simplest device at the same time as the demand exploded. Race results? Prices that have exploded beyond decency, and continue to be unfair to most consumers.

Back to normal for the GeForce RTX and Radeon RX

We finally see the end of the tunnel. 3DCenter has been watching the price trends of the latest GeForce RTX 30 and Radeon RX 6000 for a few months now, allowing us to see the price trend. And as we hoped to see, the curve is finally starting to reverse.

Today, the rates charged for these graphics cards are on average 25% higher than the indicative price. That’s a lot, of course, but it’s the first time in 15 months that they’ve been this low. If the trend is confirmed, we could therefore benefit from a return to normal as early as May. Tyler Davies of retailer Box.co.uk points this out.

Until a new explosion?

The timing is perfect, since we are already waiting for new references from manufacturers. The most fashionable at the moment is
the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which should soon reveal its secrets
. The simple model was already supposed to be simply sold for 1649 euros, but the situation blew it up to 3000 euros.

One hardly dares to imagine what the Ti model could claim in the price indicated, and up to how much it could explode in this situation. We also hope that Nvidia has been able to produce enough models to avoid a shortage upon release. As for the scalpers… We would invite them to be sent to the realm of shadows never to return to the surface of this planet.
