The month of Ramadan begins on Saturday in Saudi Arabia and in 12 Arab countries, on Sunday in the Sultanate of Oman and in Jordan

Ramadan 2022 will begin on Saturday April 2 in several Arab countries. Announcements were made in Saudi Arabia and 12 Arab countries by local authorities responsible for confirming the start of the holy month.

Religious authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that Saturday April 2 corresponds to the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in the year 1443 of the hegira, after the observation of the lunar crescent, according to a statement from the Supreme Court, taken up by the official SPA news agency.

The month of fasting will also begin on Saturday in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, according to two separate official statements issued by the Qatari Ministry of Awkaf and Islamic Affairs and the Emirati Commission for the Observation of the Crescent Moon.

Saturday April 2 will also be the first day of the blessed month in Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq and Yemen, after the lunar crescent was observed in those countries, according to separate statements released by the Kuwaiti and Bahraini Commissions of observation of the lunar crescent, the office of the Sunni Waqf of Iraq and the Yemeni Ministry of Endowments and Religious Guidance.

Representatives of religious authorities in Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, and Syria confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon and announced the start of Ramadan for Saturday.

Religious authorities in the Sultanate of Oman have set Sunday April 3 as the start of the holy month, after the lunar crescent could not be observed, according to the official Omani news agency.

The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Jordan, Sheikh Abdulkarim Al-Khasawneh, also announced that the month of Muslim fasting would begin on Sunday in the Hashemite Kingdom.
