Catch-up game in the 2nd league

HSV has not yet written off promotion to the Bundesliga: In the catch-up game against Aue, the North Germans managed a liberation after weak weeks, which significantly improves the starting position.

With the first second division victory in April, Hamburger SV ended its negative streak and at least preserved the small chance of a return to the Bundesliga. After five games without a threesome, HSV won 4-0 (2-0) in a one-sided catch-up game against the penultimate Erzgebirge Aue, who has less and less hope.

21,890 spectators in the Volksparkstadion

Robert Glatzel (14th), Sonny Kittel (45th + 1), Moritz Heyer (75th) and Ludovit Reis (83rd) scored in front of 21,890 spectators for Hamburg, who advanced to sixth place in the table.

The gap to Darmstadt 98 on the last direct promotion place is six points, just like to city rivals FC St. Pauli on the relegation rank. Aue is twelve points further away from the saving shore.

Glatzel hits the head

Three days after the sobering home defeat against SC Paderborn (1:2), HSV in the Volksparkstadion could see the will to show a different face. And that was rewarded: After a cross from the last weak Kittel, Glatzel nodded the ball. Shortly before the half-time whistle Kittel added, Aue goalkeeper Martin Männel did not look good when the free kick was converted directly.

Hamburg controlled the game in the second half and missed several chances to make the final decision before Heyer made everything clear. The game, originally scheduled for March 12, was postponed after a corona outbreak at HSV.
